Seriously I am depressed about it and I am thinking of cutting my hair back to shoulder length and starting over. Well I did say this stretch is the worst one I have had. My hair was absolutely unruly and was giving my nightmares. I trimmed off some of the ends but I am still left with unsightly looking hair. I have decided to buy some natural twists and put them in after two weeks keep them in for 8 weeks re-installing them four weeks at a time. Hopefully I can find Marley Hair I would really like to try it out. I don't want to get attached so I rather not see my hair. I don't trust myself to do the cut so I will be going to a hairdresser after the stretch to get the cut done (after my relaxer of course). I cannot cut it now because I have a few other expenses.... Who am I kidding. You already know i'm stalling to cut it lol. So your probably wondering What could be so horrible that I am basically annoyed by my hair, with no further ado my length check pic....
You can clearly see the big 'M' in the back of my hair where the hair broke. It looks like about a four inch cut to me. Also for those who do not know May 14th made a year since the last time I used heat in my hair. This being the case I flat ironed a little yesterday. Then put the flat iron back up. About to start another year of no heat. I will have to readjust my goals for my hair this year since I have just experienced my first setback.
Hey, I just came across your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteDo the trim, it will suck at first but after all the back and forth with yourself you'll be glad that you did. I always tell myself, the worse thing would be to reach a goal and have to not claim it because I have to cut my ends :/
I will I think it is a must actually. I want my hair to have a fair chance at being healthy and me not being obsessed with what could pass for long hair.
DeleteFirst---congrats on one year no heat!!! That's amazing and inspirational! I think that the longest that I've ever gone no heat is 7 weeks or so!
ReplyDeleteSecond---health or length? You can hide it for a while then chop it. Or you can chop it then hide it. If you need more time to come to terms with chopping then I say wait. There's nothing like cutting when you're just not mentally ready for it. Either way, its your choice chica. Just don't forget that its a journey and not a race. Don't get discouraged!
Besitos!

Thanks so much. I am going to cover them up first so I can get a little detached either way I cannot keep them. So I am trying to prepare myself mentally as you said. I never used to understand the big deal about cutting unhealthy hair but now I totally get it. This makes me wonder what I am doing wrong and makes me determined to fix it.
Deletethank you for sharing!! reading your posts now, I've been natural for 2 years and I really love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hun. Appreciate you stopping by.
DeleteI'm so excited about your blog already...we sure may have the same length+same damage somehow...lol. Just wish me luck as I relax next week at 24 weeks post hoping to reach your length....and then do the chopping off ....which is cool as i haven't cut my hair in over 6 months...
